Edward H. Kass Lecture

Virginia A. Caine, MD, is director and chief medical officer of the Marion County Public Health Department in Indianapolis, an associate professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine and an adjunct associate professor at the university’s School of Public Health. A past president of the American Public Health Association, she specializes in infectious diseases including HIV and its associated opportunistic infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sepsis and more. She is the current president of the National Medical Association, the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing Black physicians and health professionals in the U.S.
