Kimberly Hanson, MD, MHS, FIDSA, is director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Service at the University of Utah Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Center and section chief for medical microbiology at ARUP Laboratories, the clinical diagnostic laboratory for the University of Utah Health System and a large national reference laboratory. A practicing ID physician and medical microbiologist with formal training in clinical research, Dr. Hanson’s primary academic interest is in the development and validation of novel diagnostic approaches for infections complicating transplantation and cancer care.
