IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Curricula

In early July, an updated version of the CORE AS curriculum, along with the new Advanced AS Curriculum will become available for purchase in IDSA Academy. The CORE AS Curriculum is designed to provide ID fellows with a foundation in antimicrobial stewardship, regardless of their ultimate career plans; while the Advanced Curriculum is intended to provide ID fellows with the knowledge and skills to become leaders in antimicrobial stewardship.

Both curricula are available in self-study versions that are CME/MOC accredited and eligible for up to 15 credit hours.

The updated Core AS Curriculum

  • A "Bugs and Drugs" primer that describes the fundamental pharmacology and microbiology principles necessary for antimicrobial stewardship, along with 5 cased based exercises on management of Gram positive and Gram negative organisms to provide a foundation for stewardship principles and practice
  • Fundamentals of pandemic stewardship and what it means to be a steward during COVID-19
  • Updates and enhancements to each of the original curricular components
