IDSA begins search for new CEO

The Infectious Diseases Society of America announced today that it has kicked off its search for a new chief executive officer as a successor to Chris Busky, CAE, who will be stepping down from his role Jan. 2, 2026, to spend more time with family. 

The search is being conducted by a task force of experienced IDSA leaders led by Ronald G. Nahass, MD, MHCM, FIDSA, IDSA president-elect and chair of the task force, and Wendy Armstrong, MD, FIDSA, IDSA vice president and vice chair of the task force, who will provide guidance throughout the process, including recommending candidates for the IDSA Board’s selection of the next CEO. The search and selection process will occur over the next several months. Korn Ferry, a leading executive search firm, will assist in conducting a comprehensive search.   

The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and serves as a strategic partner in providing overall leadership and direction for all aspects of the organization. They will be responsible for effectively advancing the Society’s mission, vision and strategic plan. The CEO is accountable for strategic and operational activities and a team of approximately 90 staff, maintaining a strong organizational culture and overseeing a budget of $37 million. They also serve as the CEO of the IDSA Foundation, the charitable arm of the Society.
