William “Bill” Wilson, PharmD, BCIDP, is a clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship at UNC Children’s Hospital as well as the program director of the PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at UNC Medical Center. He serves as a clinical instructor in several courses each year at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. With advanced training in infectious diseases, he brings nearly a decade of expertise to his roles in patient care, resident training and education.
Dr. Wilson works closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex infections in pediatric patients, focusing on antimicrobial stewardship, resistance prevention and individualized pharmacotherapy. His clinical and research interests include antimicrobial stewardship in the immunocompromised host, optimization of antimicrobials and development of clinical decision support tools.
As residency program director, he mentors the next generation of infectious diseases pharmacists, fostering advanced clinical skills, critical thinking and leadership. Beyond his role of clinical instructor at UNC ESOP, he is an invited speaker and engages with students in local chapters of the Pediatric Pharmacy Association, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Group.
Dr. Wilson is known for his commitment to evidence-based, compassionate care and his leadership in advancing pediatric infectious diseases pharmacy practice.
