Search for new CEO underway

After an incredibly successful nine-year tenure, Infectious Diseases Society of America CEO Chris Busky, CAE, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position to spend more quality time with his family. Mr. Busky will remain in his position until Jan. 2, 2026.

“I wholeheartedly want to thank Chris for his outstanding leadership and service to IDSA over the past nine years,” said IDSA President Tina Tan, MD, FIDSA, FPIDS, FAAP. “He has contributed tremendously to the growth of the Society including leading the organization very effectively through the COVID pandemic, expanding our reach and influence domestically and internationally, increasing our membership, guiding the Board of Directors through extraordinarily well-developed strategic planning and refining the Society’s strategic priorities. We have all benefited immensely from his leadership.”

The IDSA Board of Directors has formed a Transition Task Force composed of experienced IDSA members, led by Ronald G. Nahass, MD, MHCM, FIDSA (IDSA president-elect and chair of the task force) and Wendy Armstrong, MD, FIDSA (IDSA vice president and vice chair of the task force), who will provide guidance throughout the process, including recommending candidates for the Board’s selection of the next CEO. The search and selection process will occur over the next several months, and the Board of Directors is committed to selecting the appropriate and right candidate to lead the Society going forward. Korn Ferry, a leading executive search firm, will assist in conducting a global search of internal and external candidates.
